Rolls with avocado and salmon. Homemade avocado rolls. How to peel an avocado for sushi

Several years ago, when I first tried Rolls, I really liked them, and I wanted to learn how to cook them at home. After some time I succeeded. I am sure that there is still a need for instructions on how to make rolls at home. The other day I also made Philadelphia cheese for lunch.

And I will be happy to share this recipe with you today, because... these are my favorite rolls. Thanks to Philadelphia cheese and ripe Avocado, the rolls turn out very tasty and tender. And today we will learn how to make them.

Ingredients:
Rice
Avocado
Philadelphia cheese
Lemon
Soy sauce
Rice vinegar
Sushi nori
Wasabi
Ginger
Mat

Instructions:

Cook the rice in a double boiler, using 2 tablespoons per sheet of nori.

In a steamer, rice turns out especially tasty. When the rice is ready, add a little salt and rice vinegar to it, mixing thoroughly.

While the rice is cooking, we prepare the filling for the Roll. Cut Avocado and Philadelphia Cheese into long slices.

Now let's prepare the mat and nori seaweed. To do this, we will take and cut a standard sheet of nori in half. Avocado rolls are usually small in size, so we can save money and make nice, neat half sheet rolls.

You may have difficulty laying out the rice; it may stick to your hands. For this we will prepare lemon juice. And before we take the rice in our hands, we will moisten them with this juice.

Wet your hands in lemon juice and take a small ball of rice.

Carefully, starting from one side, spread a thin layer of rice over the surface of the nori sheet, leaving one centimeter empty at the bottom.

Place Avocado and Philadelphia cheese in the middle of the rice.

Using a mat, wrap the roll so that the remaining centimeter of the sheet is wrapped around the roll.

We wrap the roll to the end and give it a round shape.

We go through all the steps with each sheet of nori.

Now, using a sharp knife, rinsed under cold water before each cut, cut the long roll into 6 pieces.

Serve Rolls with Avocado and Philadelphia cheese need with soy sauce, ginger and wasabi.

Today we learned how to prepare Rolls at home, there were such important points as how to properly lay out the rice on a sheet so that it does not stick to your hands; the importance of a wet knife for accurate cutting of rolls and other interesting points.

There are thousands of recipes and guides for making rolls on the Russian Internet, so we decided to do our part and post a short review of making rolls at home. Plus, you can appreciate the benefits of making rolls at home rather than purchasing them.

Cost of ingredients for rolls.

Let's start with the most interesting thing: how much will it cost us to collect all the necessary ingredients to make rolls at home. If you are making rolls at home for the first time, the cost will obviously be higher, since you will have to buy additional necessary components and cooking tools. For example, you will have to buy a mat on which tubes from sheets of nori will be rolled out in the future. You will also have to buy soy sauce and wasabi if you want everything to be no worse than the product ordered. However, this is a justified expense: the mat can be used many times, just like wasabi, most likely you won’t be able to eat it at one time (it all depends on the volume of the tube).

I will try to list the products, tools that we will need to make rolls with trout, cucumber, avocado and cheese, as well as their cost. At the time of writing, the value of the dollar was about 32 rubles.

The cost of cucumbers is 20 rubles (40 rubles per kilogram), the cost of avocados is 30 rubles (60 rubles per kilogram).

Rice vinegar cost 60 rubles, but it should last for a long time.

Ten sheets of nori cost 100 rubles, which is probably one of the most expensive ingredients when making rolls.

The cost of fish is 150 rubles. Fish is the main component of rolls, so the tastier the fish, the better the rolls.

A mat can be purchased for 100 rubles. Professional, large mats cost about 500 rubles or more, but an ordinary small, amateur mat is suitable for us, which is actually no worse, except that you can’t make many rolls on it at one time.

The cost of the purchased cheese did not exceed 60 rubles. Buy the cheese you like best. I think you shouldn’t buy smoked cheese, although with the right ratio of ingredients, rolls with smoked cheese can turn out quite tasty.

The rice used was the most common, short-grain rice for 35 rubles/kg. It seems that the rice that is sold specifically for rolls is just a marketing ploy. The same can be written on sunflower oil: “lactose-free” or on tomatoes: “no cucumbers”. Regarding the fact that regular short-grain rice doesn’t stick, it’s nonsense, “you just don’t know how to cook it,” this is not the first time we’ve used this kind of rice normally and without any problems. We also bought soy sauce (30 rubles) and wasabi (80 rubles). Without buying these ingredients, you will deprive yourself of at least 30% of the pleasure of eating rolls, so do not spare money on them.

Preparing products for rolls.

It's time to get down to business. Let's start by cooking the rice. The rice should look like porridge after cooking, but not fall apart, so keep an eye on it as it cooks. Don't forget to add salt. Add a spoonful of sushi rice vinegar and stir. This simple procedure should not cause any difficulties.

The rice is ready to be put into rolls, so now we move on to cutting the remaining products. We cut everything into long slices, so that the thickness is not very large and approximately the same. By the way, you don’t have to use avocados here at all, it won’t make things worse. Considering that avocado tastes a little like the chlorophyll-free stems of horsetail, popularly called “pistils”, “pestushki” and “pestki” :), then having avocado in rolls may not be necessary. In fact, everything here is limited by your imagination.

We cut the cheese into long longitudinal pieces. Don’t go overboard with the thickness, otherwise you won’t feel anything except cheese and fish.

Cutting an avocado and cucumber is nothing more than repeating the operation with cheese. Make the thickness exactly the same as for cheese slices.

We cut fish. Everything is simple here: you should have a pile of red worms on the table :)

We make rolls with trout, cheese, cucumber and avocado with our own hands.

In fact, the title of this paragraph, namely the phrase “with your own hands,” sounds rather stupid, but this is done so that the likelihood of you visiting this page is higher. And all because we ourselves search in search engines for phrases such as “with our own hands”, “at home”, “on our own”, etc., but this was a lyrical digression. After all the necessary products have been cut, you can begin the most interesting part - making rolls. This is where we need a mat.

Place a sheet of dried seaweed nori on the mat. I associate the smell of this product with the sea, probably because the sea smells exactly the same, in general it brings back pleasant memories despite the specific aroma.

Spread the rice over the sheet in a thin layer. Don't make a thick layer, otherwise you can just eat it while snacking on cheese and fish. We leave one edge without rice, otherwise the whole roll will unwind and you won’t get any rolls. We apply everything lengthwise as in the photo, so that we get an even and beautiful layer. Now you can roll the resulting food into a tube.

Carefully roll the sheet of nori into a roll, while folding the mat into an accordion so that it does not interfere with the further process. As a result, you should end up with a composition like this.

Avocado rolls - hosomaki. They are made with one filling: vegetable or fish. They turn out thin - 2-3 centimeters in diameter. Instead of avocado, you can use cucumber, fish, omelette, shrimp, mussels or chicken. Try this simple and delicious Japanese dish.

Avocado rolls: how to cook

First, boil the rice. If you don’t have rice for sushi, don’t be upset, take any short-grain rice and rinse it in several waters. Once the water becomes clear, the rice is ready to cook. Leave it for 10 minutes, transfer it to a saucepan with a thick bottom, pour 400 milliliters of water. Cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat until done. Remove from heat and, without opening the lid, leave for about 20 minutes. While the rice is cooling, prepare the dressing. Add sugar and salt to the rice vinegar and cook over medium heat until completely dissolved. Pour the cooled dressing into the cooled rice and stir gently with a wooden spatula. The rice for making rolls is ready.

Next we'll do the avocado. It needs to be washed, dried, cut lengthwise to the bone, separate the two halves, remove the skin with a sharp knife and cut into strips.

Wrap the mat with cling film on all sides, cut the nori sheet in half and place it on the mat, smooth side down. Wet your hands in water, take the rice (about 2 heaped tablespoons) and spread it over the sheet, pressing down lightly, leaving the top edge of the nori without rice (about 1.5 centimeters), moisten it with water. Using your finger, apply a strip of wasabi to taste (see photo).

Place avocado strips on wasabi.

Press down the filling with your fingers, lift the mat and roll it up.
