Do DIY puppet theater is not so difficult as it seems at first glance. And very exciting. We plan to continue production theaters in other ways.

Even in times of technological breakthrough, when many children are addicted to electronic games, interest in puppet theater does not disappear. This cute and funny activity is interesting for both young children of preschool age and schoolchildren. After all, dolls are interesting characters who can tell various fables, fascinating stories and fairy tales. And this really attracts the attention of children. The so-called merry nativity scene is always in fashion.

What is a puppet theater for?

Such a simple play set is often used for the intellectual development of young children, and is also used to organize useful leisure time for the child at home. This is a hobby that allows children’s imagination as such to unfold and determine the facets of their creative abilities.

To organize interesting entertainment at home, you don’t need to run to the store and look for something similar. Make a puppet theater especially if you apply all the examples below.

What tools and materials are needed for creativity?

To make a home puppet theater with your own hands, you will need small and large scissors (separately for paper and fabric), craft material such as multi-colored foamiran, threads, a needle, a sewing machine, a glue gun, utility tools in the form of pipe cleaners, scraps of thick plain multi-colored material, empty cardboard boxes of various sizes, plastic pipes and corners for connections, a pencil or marker for drawing patterns, a ruler, a set of multi-colored paper sheets of various densities. This, in general, is the entire elementary set that may be needed in order to complete the samples given here.

If you still think that making a children's puppet theater with your own hands is difficult, proceed to further study the material in this article, and you will understand that the task for parents cannot be simpler. It turns out that we miss a lot of things in life, and when the child grows up, we find great ideas that could be very useful in the upbringing and development of the baby in the first years of life.

It is better to do homework together; it is interesting not only for the child, but also for the parents; it is especially fun and exciting to use the result after fruitful work. Fantasy helps to create a wide variety of characters.

Puppet theater screen project

Work on making the game set begins with designing the base. The so-called screen can be made in several ways. The simplest ones are shown in the photo below.

You can make such an original tabletop puppet theater with your own hands if you use plastic pipes, ordinary shoe boxes, or sew an original folding book from thick foamiran.

A sewn mini-curtain, which can easily be held on a glazing bead and attached to the door with Velcro, can also serve as a screen for a creative play set.

These very simple ideas will help you acquire such an amazingly interesting and useful game for children as a puppet theater. It is simple to do, but it will serve not only as a basis, but also as a decoration, so for its implementation, dense, beautiful material is taken - crimplene, velvet, velor.

Dolls made of cardboard and colored paper

After making the screen, they proceed directly to creating the characters themselves. These could be animals or fables. These are the types of samples that can fill your puppet theater.

With your own hands, patterns of this type can be easily cut out of cardboard with scissors. They are decorated with applique pasting of colored paper, suede and drawing with felt-tip pens or markers.

Two circles at the bottom of the figure are cut out to create a convenient hole for fingers to hold the character like scissors. Such dolls are very practical if they are made of thick cardboard.

Theatrical characters from foamiran

You can create amazingly interesting crafts for children using the simplest materials at hand. If you are serious about making a puppet theater with your own hands, the plans offered here will help you bring your ideas to life.

These cute little animals can be sewn from any dense material, as well as from plastic suede - foamiran.

You can make a very cute puppet theater with your own hands; patterns of samples are sewn according to the size of your palm. Here the mitt method is followed, reminiscent of kitchen mitts, which are simply easy to make even for a beginner in this matter. The characters have no legs, only upper paws that are controlled by the little finger. It is more convenient to use such dolls in the screen of the first type - made of plastic pipes.

The photo shows a version of appliqué patterns that can be sewn by hand, on a machine, or glued. Of course, the safer option is one that is stitched with thread. Below is a sample of a lion cub made from individual parts, as well as another applique idea.

Sew a puppet theater with your own hands - get a lot of positive emotions and please your little household members. These types of nativity scene characters will be a joy for kids when they first meet the animal world.

Crochet dolls

There are a lot of options for creating a game set. You can not only sew a puppet theater with your own hands, but also knit it from beautiful multi-colored threads. An example can be taken from such an uncomplicated simple sample.

Moreover, you can knit not only finger characters, but also mittens. You can also crochet the patterns of the parts given above, and then sew them together.

Nativity play set

You can make such a puppet theater with your own hands. The dolls here are made according to miniature patterns of fingertips.

In the second sample, an ideally thin drape is suitable for this appliqué suture method. Regular beads were used to decorate the faces. Neat products are obtained by sewing the parts together on a machine.

But the first option is manual work. And it looks good too.

Origami and an interesting nativity scene

A fun activity is to make a puppet theater with your own hands. Dolls can be varied; they can be made from ordinary colored paper using the origami method. This interesting example of characters can be made using the diagram below.

Following the order of folding the sheet, you can create a simple face of any animal character; it can be completed with a ballpoint pen, paints, felt-tip pens or markers.

We greatly underestimate the various elements of everyday life, which, it turns out, make a magnificent puppet theater. The screen is made with your own hands from plastic pipes, who would have thought! But puppet characters can be made from brushes for cleaning them. It turns out to be such a cheerful example of miniature fairy-tale heroes.

The brush is screwed onto the finger of the one who will control the dolls, after which ears and handles are formed, a muzzle from a prepared cotton pompom is glued, as well as eyes, which can be factory-made blanks or ordinary beads.

Fascinating spiral dolls will delight any child. Such toys are certainly not sold in the store.

So, anyone can make a do-it-yourself puppet theater, patterns and descriptions of samples of which are given in this article. The main thing is to have a desire to develop creative inclinations in your children and not to miss very valuable time in upbringing - preschool age, when the child requires special attention.

Children constantly need a cheerful fairy-tale atmosphere. They learn certain behavior from the heroes of fairy tales. The richer the puppet theater repertoire, the better. So you shouldn’t dwell on the creativity of animals alone.

In order for the puppet theater to last as long as possible, in its manufacture it is worth using only new materials - paper, fabric, scraps of foamiran. Such a play set must be stored separately from all children's toys to prevent it from being damaged. After all, the decor of the screen and many of the details on the dolls themselves require special care.

Ready-made theater sets are used for role-playing games, in which the entire character of the baby is revealed. He must be directly involved in voicing a character. After all, a passive viewer is not for children. Therefore, when making a puppet theater, always listen to the wishes of the child.

Unusually simple ideas can bring comfort, fun and excitement to your home. Often the whole friendly family gathers at the puppet theater, especially on holiday weekends. So use the collected material and improve it at your own discretion. All the ideas proposed here do not require unaffordable financial costs or a large amount of free time for their implementation. In just a couple of hours you can create a theater screen and several elegant and cute finger puppets.

A puppet theater is not a ready-made toy; you need to work hard to create it, and to discover all its secrets it’s worth a little effort and imagination.

If you don’t know how to captivate a child today in an era of many modern toys that, for the most part, are not particularly useful, immediately start creating such an original brainchild.

Chanterelle Patterns:

Manufacturing technology of the finger puppet “Fox”.
Before we get started, let’s remember the basic safety rules when working with scissors and needles.
Store needles and pins in a designated place (pincushion). Do not put needles or pins in your mouth or stick them into your clothing.
Do not use rusty needles and pins.
Do not leave the scissor blades open while working.
Don't cut as you go.
Making a pattern for a finger puppet will not take you much time. First you need to decide on the size. The base of the toy should be about the height of your index finger. Draw the body and other details. Don’t forget to make allowances for the parts that are inserted into the base.
We select materials for our chanterelle. We transfer the details onto paper and cut them out.
Base – 2 parts;
Head – 1 piece;
Muzzle – 1 piece;
Ears – 2 parts;
Tail – 1 piece;
Ponytail tip – 1 piece;
Paws – 2 parts.

Transfer the pattern to felt. We pin larger parts to the material with pins, and outline small ones with tailor's chalk.

We distribute the parts in places.

We adjust the right foot to the base. We make fastenings.

Adjusting the second foot. We make fastenings.

We adjust the muzzle to the head. Align the edges with scissors.

Sew the ears to the head using a triple tack.

We design the ponytail - we fit the tip of the ponytail onto the part. Align the edges with scissors.

We connect the parts of the body along the contour. Don't forget to insert a tail on the side. We make fastenings. Align the edges along the contour.

Using glue we attach the head to the body. We work with glue carefully, as traces may appear on the surface of the material. We make the eyes and nose from large black beads. They can be glued or sewn with threads in color.

Manufacturing technology of the finger puppet “Mashenka”.
A distinctive feature of the execution will be the processing of the head.
Let's draw the pattern. We select materials.
Base (dress) – 2 parts;
Sleeves – 2 parts;
Hands – 2 parts;
Bast shoes - 2 parts;
Head – 1 piece;
Headscarf (front part) – 1 piece;
Headscarf (back view) – 1 piece;
Braid – 1 piece;
Spout – 1 piece;
Bangs – 1 piece.

Patterns of the doll “Mashenka”

We cut out the blanks. We put the parts in place.

We adjust the sleeves on the dress, put handles along the bottom of the sleeves (without adjusting them).

We adjust the lace along the bottom of the dress. We make fastenings.

We adjust the bast shoes. We make fastenings. Sew the dress along the contour. Align the edges along the contour.

We adjust the bangs and nose to the head. To prevent the spout from sliding under the sewing machine foot, it must first be glued.

Glue the head to the base. Glue a scarf of self-adhesive felt on top. We fasten the braid between the two parts of the scarf. Align the edges.

We secure the edges of the scarf with machine stitching. We make fastenings.

Glue on the eyes - beads. Brown the cheeks with a red pencil.

Mashenka's eyes can be decorated using special accessories for needlework - peepholes.

This is what we got!

"A child's mind is at his fingertips"

V. A. Sukhomlinsky

The children in our group, especially the girls, love the finger theater. It’s no secret that, in addition to aesthetic pleasure, playing with a finger puppet theater develops a child’s imagination, curiosity, sociability, interest in creativity, promotes the development of speech, memory, attention, thinking, perseverance, broadens his horizons, helps cope with shyness and much more. .

In this regard, at one of the parent meetings we decided to fill our theater with characters made by ourselves.

The parents tried their best and sewed the fairy tale "Teremok"

It turned out that everything was not so difficult.

Some parents are hooked for the first time. And it turned out pretty good, in our opinion.

One family presented a nursery rhyme called "Magpie Crow" made from felt.

We made some of the animals ourselves with the children from plasticine.

Thanks to the finger theater, the child has the opportunity to fantasize, invent his own fairy tales and stories. Many thanks to the parents for their active participation in the life of the kindergarten.

Publications on the topic:

I sewed all the toys from hard Korean felt. They are bright and attract children's attention. The finger puppet theater helps the teacher.

You can create a finger theater with your own hands. This requires a little creativity and imagination. Children love to play with their fingers.

The finger theater “Ryaba Hen” is made of felt, taking into account the size of a child’s hand. The simple text and plot of the tale allow you to play even with...

Take 200 grams of flour and 150 grams of salt, add 1/3 cup of water, mix. add 1 tablespoon of PVA glue or wallpaper glue.

Dear Maam members, we all know what a huge role theatrical activities play in the lives of children - children love to listen to, watch, etc. fairy tales.

Play is the most natural activity of a child. It is precisely this that makes it possible to acquire new knowledge about the world around us and expand it.

Throughout the school year, the kids and I worked on the “Pets” project. The kids learned a lot: how and where they live, what they eat, what kind of food they eat.

The development of children from the cradle is a topic that is discussed by almost all mothers on the playground, and not only them. Many of these mothers from infancy take their children to early development groups, where qualified teachers know exactly how to entertain and interest children of this age group. However, this requires at least two things: money (sometimes considerable) and free time. There is neither one nor the other - let's learn how to entertain and develop children at home.

Tabletop theater at home

So, what should you choose for home education and development for children from one to three years old? Of course, any activity at this age should based on the game. Do you have an active child and dream of a quiet activity together? Then a tabletop theater can help you! It turns out that making it with your own hands is not so difficult.

A puppet theater for kids can be made from many materials. The most difficult and labor-intensive option- sewing dolls or cutting out figures from wood. The simplest and most suitable for a busy mother - print from paper or cardboard at home.

Where to start if you want to make a paper theater for your child with your own hands? First of all, prepare your materials. You will definitely need:

  • color printer;
  • thickened paper or cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • scotch;
  • templates for crafts in electronic form or your own drawing.

Choosing a piece

You will need to decide in advance on the characters of your theatrical production in order to find suitable templates for the paper finger theater. Most often, for the very first children's productions, teachers and psychologists advise taking simple, long-standing familiar tales and storytelling. On the Internet you can often find templates for finger theater made of paper for such fairy tales as Turnip, Teremok, Kolobok, Masha and the Bear, The Three Little Pigs and so on.

In any case, you should take for the game a work or story from a book that is familiar to your child. Perhaps you have even been to a real puppet theater, have already seen some kind of play, and the child liked the plot.

When you have chosen a play and are ready to create a puppet theater with your own hands from paper, templates for it become the next point in your search. Do not worry! You can easily find a couple of options on specialized websites, as well as on the blogs of creative mothers who are happy to share their sketches and inventions.

There are several types of paper theater blanks:

Here are 3 options for a paper theater for use at home. In addition to the heroes of a fairy tale or story, you will also need decorations for a house, garden, forest, and so on.

Secrets of successful theater productions

How to make a paper theater more durable? After all, paper parts often tear and become unusable. And, most likely, this will happen after the first production of your play. Here is another option for making a theater at home, which, although more time-consuming, will last longer.

The first stage of production remains unchanged - we find templates (you can even draw them yourself if there are no ready-made ones). We print them on a color printer. Then we cut out the largest decorations, glue them to cardboard and additionally seal them with tape - this will add strength to them, and they will not get dirty.

Then we start making fairy tale heroes. At this stage we will need additional materials, namely:

  • Small plastic jars for yoghurts like Rastishka or Agusha.
  • Wooden ice cream sticks (if you don’t have them, plastic forks or spoons will also work).
  • Stationery knife.

We cut out the characters and glue them onto a cardboard base. If your paper is quite thick, then you don’t have to do this. But most often, thicker paper is not “grabbed” by the printer for printing. Keep this in mind and try using different paper weights in your printer.

Be sure to tape it with tape so that the parts don’t fray. Then we take ice cream sticks or plastic spoons and tape them with tape to the back of the paper blank so that the stick is “behind” the hero and has a free part at the bottom (3-4 cm). Using a utility knife, we make two cuts on the bottom of the yogurt jar - you should get a cross - and then simply insert the stick with the doll into this hole. All is ready! You can start playing!

As you can see, a home theater is a great way to diversify a child’s leisure time without much expense, because printing and cutting out the templates is not at all difficult. In addition, this is a good option for spending time together, which children always like, and also strengthens family relationships.
