After this, you need to carefully smooth the foil with your fingertips so that the design appears. Next you need to cover it with a layer of black paint (this can be gouache, ink, tempera). Once the paint is dry, very gently scrub the painting with a steel wool pad. The protruding veins of the leaf will shine, and dark paint will remain in the recesses.
